Gingerbread Trim offers several
different choices for coating
 your styrofoam trim.

 a hopper gun is pictured.

Simple paint. For those areas not in danger of being bumped or gouged, a simple coat of paint is all that's needed. The important issue is protecting the styrofoam from UV rays. Any paint that requires water washup is okay. The more coats, the better, as they say!

We also have a special texturized paint coating made especially for sytrofoam. It can be  brushed or rolled on and can creates different textured surfaces depending on the application method. It is a white paint that accepts other water based paints readily.

Hard coat. We use several different forms of hardcoat. All are especially formulated to adhere to styrofoam and provide protection from the elements. They are typically used for exterior applications, but are excellent for interior as well. The shell actually is concrete with a special polymer additive to make it super strong.

Although the application is thin, it has a very durable finish. These coatings are porous so paint adheres well, although several coats will be needed.

We also sell this coating as dry bag goods to contractors for hopper spraying on site.

Polycoat. This coating is a two part blend of polyurethane and an activater and is the most resilent. It typically dries in less than 60 seconds. The poly needs to be primed before accepting paint or any other type of finish.

This is an extremely durable finish and offers greater protection in your high traffic areas. If you need that extra protection this may be the way to go. This coating takes the styrofoam out of the inexpensive category.

Durability and budgets need to be considered here if a lot of trim is needed.
