Banding
with a profile is being added to this entranceway tower.
The
banding below is a simple one step band, but it brings the different
elements of the home together.
As
you can see, just about any profile can be used as a band. Size is
usually the criteria. Not too big to overpower, and not too small to
go unnoticed.

Color
seems to be a serious consideration. In many cases the bands are the
same color as the house. A multi-faceted band such as the fluted band
above would work well in that case. The shadows would create form and
the highlights would contrast.
On
the other hand some folks prefer a dark band and light house, or the
reverse. Drive around the neighborhood and check the difference.
